The Joys of COVID-19 Quarantine

I’m writing from the comfort of my home-office where I’ve been staying hidden from the people out there who may or may not be infectious spreaders of COVID-19. I had a cold that I just recently got over. I also am happy to report I have no fever, no dry, hacking cough and no shortness of breath. So far, so good.

Last night I received word from our state governor, Jay Inslee that he has extended the stay at home order for another month. It’s already a trial of patience not just here at home where step-son has it in his head this is all some crazy hoax fabricated by the Chinese government.

Of course it doesn’t help my wife and I when we see news reports from our neighbor just east of us–Idaho–who have state representatives claiming that what is being enforced is unconstitutional. At this point, does it really matter if we shouldn’t be publicly assembled if it means one less infected by a virus that in all likelihood is tantamount to the plague?

Of course there are people who take this all too lightly or casually. I admit, I too believed that over a month ago before it came here and then spread like a wild-fire across this country. They obviously don’t understand what is at stake, or are in complete denial over the whole ordeal. My wife informed me the other day her ex-husband claimed to have had it back in January, according to her son who talked with him over the phone. His position is that COVID-19 is nothing but a minor flu bug that he caught two months ago.

When I heard that I just shook my head in disappointment. I wish corona virus was just a minor bug that could be easily treated with Ibuprofen, water and plenty of rest. It’s much, much worse than that I’m sorry to say.
