The book in question is Nate Turner: Negro Cowboy. If you remember I was given a writing prompt to write a 1,000-word piece about a genre outside my comfort zone. I chose western and used a run-away slave as the protagonist, named Nate Turner.

Is it Real of Figment of Imagination

Sometime back just before Christmas I saw an article about Henry Miller’s Tropic of Cancer. The article made me curious about what exactly made this book so great. I remember my college professors pushing “masterpieces” down our collective throats.
