Dolly

I’m sure you all have read, heard, or saw on TV that Dolly Parton passed away yesterday. I for one will miss her as a great, talented musician, song writer, and actress, but also for her philanthropy giving away to whatever cause would help those in need the most. 

I never met her personally, never had the pleasure of going to any of her live concerts at the height of her career, but I enjoyed her music style. It felt authentic, sounded from the heart.  

My first remembrance was when she was on The Porter Wagner Show. I never watched a single episode through, being that I wasn’t into country music as a whole and thought listening to their duets and her country songs was tantamount to rock and roll treason. 

After that I heard some of her songs on the radio. They were those crossover titles that could be considered country or pop such as “Nine to Five.” I got to see her act on that very same movie along with Steel Magnolias. 

I guess in this day and age of political polarity what I will miss about her is her honesty and lack of being aligned with any one political cause or party or opinion; a rarity anymore, though I’m sure a certain person would take exception to that. I found it refreshing.
