Don’t Feel any Older

But here I am on my sixty-eighth birthday looking at myself in the mirror and wonder who this old man is staring back at me. I feel the same as I did when I turned nineteen, and every year since, but this body has changed and not so much for the better.

I’m sure if I hadn’t abused my body when I was younger: drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and doing drugs, I may be a healthier individual. Then again I wouldn’t have learned the cruel lessons life throws our way either.

Like that song “Both Sides, Now” I have lived a life that if I had been a goody-goody, wouldn’t have lived a truly full life. At least that’s how I see it. I feel I have lived a full life, such as it is.

My expectations were set higher than what eventually came to fruition, but I’m not disappointed. I’ve been challenged and that too is what living a full life is all about.

So now as I look myself in the mirror I have to smile that I’m still alive, enjoying the gifts that God has given me and thankful for all my friends, family and loyal readers like you who have supported me all these years.
